Join us for live performances of their play Band of Dragons, which follows Faye the dragon, a fifth-generation dragon boat drummer, as she navigates tradition and change.

Performances will take place in English and Cantonese, followed by special presentations by Dragon Boat BC exploring the Dragon Boat Festival, the history of racing, and the vibrant community that champions this cultural sport today. Visit dragonboatbc.ca/summerregatta for more info.

Five Blessings Collective

Five Blessings is a collective of five Chinese Canadian performance artists—Nancy Tam, Derek Chan, Robyn Jacob, Jasmine Chen, and Howard Dai—who create work across theatre, sound and music, movement, and performance. Made up of first- and second-generation settlers from Hong Kong and Taiwan, Five Blessings explores and celebrates the complexities of stories and traditions from the Chinese diaspora through song, audio plays, film, and stage works.

A Year in Blessings, Five Blessings’ five-episode multilingual audio play series, introduces young audiences to Chinese holidays through storytelling and sound.

Dragon Boat BC

Community, culture and competition: all in one boat. Dragon Boat BC is the non-profit organizer of North America’s flagship dragon boat festival and Canada’s largest paddling club, producing races and cultural programming centered around the traditional Chinese cultural sport of dragon boat. As Vancouver welcomes the world this year, we’re excited to welcome you to the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Summer Regatta on August 22 at Concord Pacific Place!
