Yubing Guo
Yubing has been working at the Chinese Canadian Museum since its opening on July 1, 2023, leading tours where she enjoys engaging visitors in conversations about art, culture, and migration stories.
Yubing holds a BA in Art History from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an MA in Critical Curatorial Studies from the University of British Columbia. Born in Tianjin, China, Yubing now calls “Vancouver” home and identifies as a first-generation immigrant and a queer person.
Outside the museum, Yubing works as an independent curator, writer, and translator. Her work explores the socioeconomic and political contexts of artistic production, with a focus on women and “minority” artists within these systems. Her recent projects are rooted in site-specific contexts, and she also hosts a Mandarin-language podcast on Southwest China’s ethnic minority cultures, folk art and craft, and rural revitalization.
In her free time, Yubing enjoys exploring new places, meeting new people, and sharing cucumbers with her pet bunny.
