The Vancouver Xiangqi Association (subject to the current government valid registration) was established on March 6, 1976. It is the earliest established Xiangqi association in Canada. Since 1982, it has actively held local intercity tournaments, friendly matches of foreign teams, and participated in international tournaments including Zhongshan Cup, Qixing Cup, Guinness Cup and World Championships.
