Stella Zheng is a second-generation settler of Chinese heritage, born in Vancouver, the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Stella is an illustrator who blends traditional Chinese art practices with digital and analog mediums to explore themes of identity. She hopes to create uplifting artwork that calls on the media and artwork she was fond of as a child. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 2020.
