Senyuè

Senyuè's (they/them) ethereal historical folk and dreamy spoken word supported by a strong vocal lead, transport the listener both on an inner journey of self reflection on identity, healing and belonging alongside a personal and historical exploration of their Chinese family's story and history being 6th generation Chinese Canadian settlers. The intricate weaving between the past and present, the personal and larger scale narrative of the historical Chinese Canadian migration allow the listener to feel these stories on a body level and also prove to be for many, both a moving and educational experience. Their debut album "The Moon's Memories," focuses on their identity as a queer mixed person of colour, finding connection and healing to their ancestral roots and personal growth and healing as they change through life's identities from youth to parent. This album and work is supported by Senyuè's influence as an embodied expressive arts therapist, decolonized facilitator and many years living and studying Chinese Canadian history both in China and Canada. They currently reside on the unceded territories of the K'ómoks nation in Cumberland, BC.
