Rosalie Gunawan

Rosalie oversees education and public programs at the Chinese Canadian Museum, including the development of field trips for school groups and the production of The School Room podcast.

Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Rosalie is of mixed Chinese-Indonesian and white heritage. She holds a BA in International Studies (Northeast Asia) and Languages (Japanese) from the University of Alaska Anchorage, as well as a MA in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia. Prior to relocating to Vancouver in 2019, Rosalie taught junior high school English in Tokushima, Japan – a place that sparked her interest in tourism and community revitalization that became the subject of her graduate research at UBC. Rosalie brings over a decade of teaching experience in three different countries, ranging from elementary school classrooms to university lecture halls, and is thrilled to channel her passion for accessible education into amplifying the stories of the Chinese Canadian community.

Outside of the museum, Rosalie is an avid rock climber, doting cat mom to a boisterous Siamese, and amateur ice cream maker.
