Melanie Ng

Melanie K. Ng is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at the University of Toronto. A descendant in a paper family, her research focuses on the lives of Chinese paper families and their migrations to and through Canada and North America. She has published in academic journals, blogs, and podcasts. Melanie is also the project manager for the Chinese Canadian National Council for Social Justice’s Road to Justice, a project that traces the history of Chinese Canadian racial justice movements in conversation with histories of Indigenous, Black, and other non-white settler communities. She enjoys spending time in Toronto’s Chinatown community eating good food and learning to lion dance from Si Je Amy Wang and Si Fu Ian Chow.
