Howie Tsui

Howie Tsui (徐浩恩, b. 1978, Hong Kong) is based on unceded Coast Salish territories. His interdisciplinary practice incorporates painting, sculpture and algorithmic animation to raise questions around order/chaos while considering the potential for social harmony through self-organized societies. Tsui employs a stylized form of derisive imagery to disarm broadening regimes while synthesizing divergent anxieties around superstition, surveillance and otherness through a diasporic lens. His works feature in prominent public collections, including the Vancouver Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Ontario, National Gallery of Canada, McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Art Gallery of New South Wales and M+ in Hong Kong.
