Andrew Sandfort-Marchese

Andrew Sandfort-Marchese is an independent researcher and museum worker passionate about preserving and sharing Chinese Canadian history. Raised in Minnesota, Andrew draws on his own family roots and experiences to explore movement and settlement patterns that shape our Vancouver community. Through work at the UBC Rare Books and Special Collections, the Chinese Canadian Museum, and projects like the 1923 Paper Trail, Andrew develops educational programming, leads tours, and supports public archival engagement .  He continues to learn a lot from friends and mentors in the Chinese Canadian community, and volunteers his time assisting families with genealogical research. His personal research centers untold stories, especially those of working-class Chinese "bachelor" men (叔父昆仲), reflecting his belief in history that is felt deeply and shared openly.
