From China to Canada: Roger Lee’s Yixing Teapot Collection

A teapot is never just a vessel. Beyond brewing tea, it reflects the vision, philosophy, and cultural world of its maker. Discover the artistry and ingenuity of Yixing teapots with Professor Roger Lee as he delves into the range and significance of his celebrated collection.
On view beginning October 15, Collector’s Corner: Roger Lee features the extraordinary Yixing teapot collection of art historian and cultural advocate Professor Roger Lee. Showcasing pieces from Lee’s private collection and his generous gift to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, this exhibition invites visitors to see Yixing teapots as more than vessels for tea — as expressions of identity, acts of cultural exchange, and living dialogues between tradition and modernity.
