Experience the museum through the eyes of our knowledgeable guides and discover the stories, histories, and perspectives behind each exhibition. Public guided tours are included with admission and offered at select times throughout the week, offering a deeper and more enriching way to explore.

Step into the golden age of Cantopop and Mandopop with this guided tour through Dream Factory: 1980s–2000. Discover the music, fashion, and fandom that defined a generation — and explore the transpacific currents between Asia and Chinese Canadian communities that gave rise to a cultural phenomenon.

Senior Tour

Calling all senior groups! For a limited time, we are excited to offer complimentary guided tours of the Chinese Canadian Museum for groups of senior citizens. Please note that requests must be made at least 2 weeks in advance of visiting – submit a booking request now to reserve your tour date.

FAQ’s
Any groups of up to 15 seniors (aged 65+) are eligible to book a tour. Community centres, assisted living facilities, and other group homes may also book a tour on behalf of their community members. While Chinese senior groups located in Vancouver Chinatown and the DTES will be prioritized, we are also able to accommodate a limited number of tour requests from other organizations. Please note that the total tour number includes seniors and any necessary support staff.
If you’re able to gather a group of at least 10 friends or family (aged 65+) together, you’re more than welcome to book a tour! We also offer daily public tours that are complimentary with admission – to learn more, see our Complimentary Guided Tours page.
Our specially trained tour guides are able to deliver tours in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. We have some ability to accommodate multiple languages in a tour (e.g. Mandarin and Cantonese) for groups of mixed language backgrounds – please note this in your booking request so we can plan accordingly.
Yes! Visitors are able to access all levels of our building and various exhibitions via elevator. For tour groups with wheelchair users arriving by bus, there is a loading bay directly outside our lobby entrance that provides easy access to our museum. We also have a limited number (2) of wheelchairs available for visitor use upon arrival. Accessibility note: The narrowest doorway located in the museum on our third floor school room is 28.85 inches (73.3 cm) wide. If you or someone in your group uses a wheelchair or mobility device, please ensure it can safely pass through this space.
Yes, our guides are trained to deliver multi-sensory tours to accommodate various levels of seeing, hearing, feeling, and smelling (no tasting, sorry). Service animals are also allowed to accompany visitors in public areas of the museum.
Yes. The minimum number of seniors per tour is 10 attendees and the maximum is 15 attendees. Please note that support staff are included in these capacity limits (i.e. 7 seniors + 7 support staff maximum). Some of our gallery spaces are on the smaller size, so keeping group numbers small helps keep everyone together!
Tours can be booked Wednesdays between June 11 and December 17. Tours are from 10:30–11:30 A.M and 3–4 P.M.
These tours cover the cost of the group’s admission and a dedicated tour guide. We are unfortunately unable to cover the cost of transportation, such as bus rentals or public transportation, at this time.

We understand unexpected complications sometimes happen! If you need to change or cancel your tour booking, please contact booking@chinesecanadianmuseum.ca as soon as possible so we can release your tour date to other interested groups.
