Tung Chan
Tung Chan, a retired executive from the TD Bank Financial Group and former councillor
of the City of Vancouver, has an impressive background in community involvement.
Holding a BA from the University of British Columbia, Tung Chan currently serves on
the Canadian Red Cross B.C. and Yukon Provincial Advisory Committee and the
Chinese Canadian Museum Society. Additionally, he has held important positions such
as Chief Executive Officer of S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Honorary Captain of the Royal Canadian
Navy, and chair of the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 1.
Throughout his career, Tung has demonstrated his commitment to community service
by serving as chair, vice-chair, and board member for numerous organizations. These
include E-Comm Emergency Communications, Richmond Public Library, International
Financial Centre Society of BC (later known as Advantage BC), BC Premier’s Chinese
Community Advisory Committee, Province of BC Equal Opportunity Community
Advisory Board, the Vancouver Foundation, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Asia
Pacific Foundation, The Laurier Institution, the Immigrant Employment Council of British
Columbia, Metropolis BC, Rick Hansen Institute, BC Community Care and Community
Living Appeal Board, Fairchild TV Program Advisory Committee, the Canadian
Foundation for Economic Education, and the United Way of the Lower Mainland.
Tung's exceptional contributions and leadership have been recognized with prestigious
awards and honours. He received the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medal in
2002 and 2012, an honorary Doctorate in Law from University Canada West in 2013,
and was inducted into the Order of British Columbia by the Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia in 2014.
Tung enjoys reading and travelling in his leisure time, further enriching his experiences and knowledge.
