Tina Loo

Tina Loo is a University Killam Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where she teaches and writes about environmental and Canadian history. A member of the Royal Society of Canada, she is the author of a number of books and articles about subjects ranging from wildlife conservation and the impacts of hydroelectric development to forced relocation in Canada. She has also written for Canada’s History (formerly The Beaver magazine) and was co-editor of the Canadian Historical Review. A finalist for the Western Magazine Awards, she has been recognized by the Canadian Historical Association and the Canadian Federation of the Humanities and Social Sciences, winning the Sir John A. Macdonald Prize (now the CHA Best Scholarly Book in Canadian History Prize) and the Canada Prize. She served on the advisory board of the Museum of Vancouver’s exhibit, “A Seat at the Table: Chinese Immigration and British Columbia,” and is a member of Canada Post’s Stamp Advisory Committee.
