GETTING HERE
The Chinese Canadian Museum is located in Vancouver Chinatown — permanently at home inside the Wing Sang Building. Originally built in 1889 by Chinese merchant Yip Sang, the building is the oldest brick structure in Vancouver’s Chinatown.
The 4, 7, 19, and 22 bus lines all stop at the intersection of Carrall Street and Pender Street across from the museum exhibition. Click here to plan your commute on Translink.
The museum is less than a 10-minute walk from the Stadium-Chinatown Station. Exit the station from the Keefer Place exit, go down the steps and turn left onto Abbott Street. Walk until you reach Pender Street. Turn right onto Pender Street. and continue until you arrive at 51 E. Pender St.
The museum does not offer on-site parking. There is an EasyPark parkade located in Chinatown Plaza at 106 Keefer Street. Limited metered parking is also available along Pender Street in front of the museum. Please allow extra time to find parking. Chinatown’s street parking is $2 per hour.

Note: Groups of 10 or more can email booking@chinesecanadianmuseum.ca at least 24 hours in advance. Large groups cannot pre-register for the free public guided tours.

Family Tips
- Accompany young children during the visit to ensure they have an enjoyable time.
- Strollers can enter through the front entrance and be wheeled throughout the galleries.
- All floors are accessible by elevator, and can accommodate multiple strollers and wheelchairs. We also provide stroller check, dependent on capacity.
- You can breastfeed wherever you feel comfortable. For privacy, head to the family washrooms on the basement floor, or ask a museum assistant for guidance.

- No running or climbing.
- Do not move or lean on displays.
- Food and drink are not allowed in the exhibition galleries.

The Chinese Canadian Museum is committed to creating a welcoming and accessible experience for all visitors. Our spaces are designed to support ease of movement and comfort, with barrier-free access throughout key public areas — from arrival and entry to galleries and amenities — so visitors can explore the museum with confidence and independence.
Inside, features such as accessible pathways, barrier-free washrooms, and elevator access between levels help ensure a smooth and inclusive visit. We also consider the details that enhance comfort, including clear signage, well-lit spaces, and seating throughout the museum, allowing visitors to engage with exhibitions at their own pace.
- A loading zone is located on Pender Street near the museum’s front entrance
- Entrance and ticketing are at street level
- Upper and lower levels are accessible by elevator and stairs
- Accessible washrooms are located on the basement level
- Coat and bag check are available; space is limited
- Large bags and luggage are not permitted in galleries and must be checked
Please note: The narrowest doorway in the museum (located in the third-floor schoolroom) measures 28.85 inches (73.3 cm) wide. Visitors using mobility devices are encouraged to confirm their equipment dimensions in advance.

Online ticket holders will receive a receipt featuring a QR code. If you cannot locate your code digitally or printed, our staff can look up your booking using the email address used at purchase. If you hold a complimentary printed CCM ticket, please present it at the front desk for redemption.

All tickets are non-refundable and valid for a single visit. If you need to change your reservation date or time, please email booking@chinesecanadianmuseum.ca for assistance before the end of your scheduled visit date (subject to availability).
Full refunds or re-bookings will be provided if the museum is closed or an event is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Currently, we accept the following: International Council of Museums (ICOM), Easter Seals’ Access 2 Card, Canoo, Canadian Museum Associations, Destination Vancouver, Tourism Challenge Passport and National Trust for Canada, International National Trusts Organisation, National Trust for Scotland.
Non-flash, non-commercial photography is allowed inside the space. For commercial photography and/or any other media inquiries, please contact info@chinesecanadiamuseum.ca.
No pets or animals are permitted in the space, except from service animals.
The last entry is at 4:30 pm, and the museum closes at 5:00 pm. If you would like to step out and return later the same day, our front desk staff can provide a re-entry stamp.
The museum experience typically ranges from 45 minutes to 2 hours. To fully engage with our films, stories, and interactive exhibitions, we recommend allocating at least 60 minutes for your visit.
Our on-site retail store, 1889 Trading Co., is now open to the public. You can also shop our full selection online at 1889tradingco.ca.
We provide complimentary, self-serve lockers for all visitors and annual pass holders. These are available for storing personal belongings or large items that are not permitted inside the exhibition galleries.
The museum does not have public water fountains. However, bottled water is available for purchase at our retail store, 1889 Trading Co., located on the first floor. We also welcome visitors to bring their own resealable water bottles.
