Vancouver, BC (June 12, 2025) – The Chinese Canadian Museum is proud to announce a special partnership with BMO to offer North American post-secondary students a discounted annual pass through a gift of $170,000 over two years. The new BMO Campus Culture Pass increases student access to the museum to build cultural awareness, drive student involvement, incentivize younger generations to visit Chinatown, and highlight the museum as a hub for learning, creativity, and research.

The BMO Campus Culture Pass program, which starts on June 12, 2025, and will run for two years, includes unlimited museum access, discounts at the new museum store 1889 Trading Co., and special event tickets. The annual pass, originally priced at $25, will be available for $5. As part of this partnership, the museum will also provide student-focused programming such as exclusive events tailored to students — including guided tours, workshops, artist talks, and networking opportunities.

“Chinese Canadian culture has been a meaningful part of BMO’s history since the opening of our Vancouver Chinatown branch in December 1918,” said James Kitamura, Regional President Personal Banking, BC Region, BMO. “Supporting access to programs and organizations that empower learning and celebration of culture, like they do at the Chinese Canadian Museum, enriches the cultural fabric of our community and helps build a more inclusive society.”

Located in the historic Wing Sang Building, the Chinese Canadian Museum offers vibrant historical exhibitions, contemporary art, and hands-on programming that bridges generations and inspires intercultural dialogue. As the museum approaches its second anniversary, it continues to expand its role as a cultural and academic hub. Recent collaborations include:

  • 2 documentary projects led by UBC’s Asian Canadian and Asian Migration (ACAM) program as part of the Paper Trail exhibition.

“This partnership with BMO helps us open our doors even wider to the next generation of learners,” said Dr. Melissa Karmen Lee, CEO of the Chinese Canadian Museum. “The BMO Campus Culture Pass strengthens our commitment to accessibility and ensures that students can see themselves reflected in our stories while connecting academic learning with lived cultural experience.”
