Renovation Updates: Enhancing the Wing Sang Building
The Chinese Canadian Museum is undergoing a significant enhancement of our existing gallery and public space between mid-2024 to mid-2025.
The museum will remain open during this renovation period, with most of the work done behind-the-scenes, and operations will continue as normal. However, as with any construction project, we anticipate unforeseen circumstances that may require us to cancel or change bookings and rentals at short notice.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the museum experience for our visitors!
Our exhibitions are open during this time:
Reshaping Collections: Where History Meets Art — until Sept. 28, 2025
The Paper Trail to the 1923 Exclusion Act — until Dec. 1, 2024
Period Rooms: Historic School Room and Living Room — Permanent
Stay tuned for new exhibition openings in 2025
What to expect:
During the construction period, visitors can expect some noise and occasional changes in access points. There may be times when the museum will have to close and cancel tickets at short notice. We aim to provide visitors with as much advance notice as possible of any closure dates via our social media and website.
About the project:
To ensure that as much building space is utilized for gallery and public use, upgrades include a new gallery space, expanded lobby, new education centre, street-accessible retail space, additional washrooms, and revamped garden. Our rooftop is currently under renovations, as we work to upgrade the seismic capacity of the building to protect this heritage landmark.
