Year of the Rabbit Celebrations – Vancouver & Victoria

Leap forward into the Year of Rabbit with the Chinese Canadian Museum! Enjoy a variety of cultural activities in celebration of the Lunar New Year from the New Year’s Eve on Jan. 21 through to Lantern Festival on Feb 5. 

Admission by donation. Starting January 19, donate $20 or more and receive a pack of custom “Lucky Water Rabbit” red envelopes (5 pcs), illustrated by local artist Justine Crawford, while supplies last.

Jan 21 – 29: Year of the Rabbit Photobooth (including lion and dragon head for kids to try on) 
Jan 21: Water Rabbit Print Making Demonstration with Marlene Yuen (1 – 3pm) 
Jan 22: CCM’s Inaugural Walk in the Spring Festival Parade in Chinatown (11am – 1pm) 
Jan 22: Lion Dance & Blessing by Hon Hsing Athletic Club (2pm)

About Marlene Yuen

Marlene Yuen (she/her) is a Vancouver based multidisciplinary artist; her current focus is on illustrations, comics and handmade books. Marlene’s artist books have been retained in special collections archives nationally and internationally. She has created artworks about Vancouver’s historic Chinatown and Chinese Canadian workers for museums, galleries and public art programs. In 2021, her book, Ho Sun Hing Printers, received an honourable mention from the City of Vancouver Book Awards program. It is about Canada’s first Chinese-English letterpress print shop.
