Chinese Canadian Museum Society of British Columbia (“CCMSBC”) is working to develop a fulsome privacy policy. The following is our temporary privacy policy for personal information of donors and others collected via CCMSBC websites (“Website”).
CCMSBC collects and uses Personal Information, including a donor’s name, address, contact information (including telephone numbers or email address), and donation information in order to process donations, to maintain a database of donors and, where permitted by law and in accordance with CCMSBC policies, to issue donation tax receipts to donors. CCMSBC will not collect, use or disclose your Personal Information in a way that is incompatible with applicable federal or provincial legislation or this Privacy Policy. CCMSBC will not disclose donor Personal Information to third-parties, except as may be required by due process of law. Where Personal Information is required by law to be disclosed to third-parties, CCMSBC will use reasonable efforts to ensure that any party to whom it is disclosed provides a comparable level of protection for your Personal Information.
Personal Information is not retained longer than is necessary for the purposes described above. In particular, except where a donor indicates they wish to make ongoing donations over a period of time, credit card and banking information is deleted regularly and is not retained by CCMSBC.
CCMSBC takes reasonable steps to ensure that Personal Information in our custody is accurate and up-to-date for the purposes. CCMSBC relies on those who submit Personal Information to notify CCMSBC of any changes to the Personal Information. CCMSBC uses reasonable measures to ensure that Personal Information in its custody is protected against accidental or unlawful loss, access or disclosure.
By submitting Personal Information to CCM via the Website, or by otherwise using the Website, you hereby consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Privacy Policy, or if you are not of the age of majority in your province of residence, please do not use the Website or submit personal information using the Website.”
