On April 12, 2023, the Honorable Lana Popham, BC Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport announced that the Chinese Canadian Museum will receive $10 million in provincial funding. The funding will support us as we put together the finishing touches towards the museum’s official opening. The contribution will also go towards operational costs, developing optimal and enhanced visitor experiences to better serve British Columbians, Canadians, and travellers from around the world.
We are deeply grateful for the tremendous support from the Province of British Columbia at every formative stage, alongside our donors and community members across Canada. We are thrilled to open our museum this July 1st, on the 100th anniversary of the enactment of the 1923 Chinese Immigration Act, known as the Chinese Exclusion Act.
A media release was issued by the Province.
